FAQs

What are the dimensions of each unit?

When comparing storage units, it’s important to understand standard advertised sizing (exterior dimensions) vs. actual available interior space (which accounts for wall paneling and structural elements).

  • Our east building units have an exterior dimension of 14′ x 45′ and an interior dimension of ~13′ x 43′.

  • Our west building units have an exterior dimension of 14′ x 50′ and an interior dimension of ~13′ x 48′.

  • All units have an overhead door sizing of 12′ x 14′.

Do the units have lighting and electrical outlets?

Yes, each unit is equipped with two overhead LED light bars that can be turned on via an interior light switch. East unit powered overhead doors also have a light that will turn on automatically when the door is opened. There are two 15 Amp outlets in each unit, one located in the middle rear of the unit and another next to the light switch near the front/right side of the unit.

Some of our XL 50′ west units are also equipped with an optional 30 AMP service, which can be activated for $25/month. Please note that there is a $50 reactivation fee for stopping and restarting the service.

When and how can I access my unit?

You may access your unit 24/7, 365 days/year. Each unit has its own keypad controlling the overhead door. On move-in day you will be provided with a secure code for accessing the unit whenever you need to.

What type of security is on the premises?

There are multiple video cameras surveilling the premises at all times as well as additional security along Ellefson Drive. The Right Lane Storage owners are also notified whenever a unit door opens. Fire extinguishers are located on the exterior sidewalls of each building.

Are the units climate controlled?

No, the units are not climate controlled.

Do you offer any outdoor storage?

No, we offer indoor storage only.

How long is the rental contract?

Our rental contracts are month-to-month and auto-renew until you provide us 15 days’ notice that you wish to cancel your lease.

Can I visit the facility?

You are always welcome to drive by our facility to see the turn-around area, buildings, and surrounding neighborhood. Due to privacy issues, we may not be able to open a unit for your visit if there are no vacancies. See Gallery for facility pictures. 

What do I need to do to reserve a unit?

Your name, email, phone number, mailing address, desired start date, and end date (if known) are required to initiate the reservation process. We will then ask you to digitally sign a rental agreement and rules and regulations document. We also require the first month’s rent upfront to hold a reservation. Reservations can typically be made up to two weeks in advance of your start date.

 

We can also add you to our waiting list if your start date is further out or we do not have any vacancies at the time of your inquiry.

How do I pay my rent?

For your security, we utilize a third-party payment processing service that can accept all major credit cards as well as ACH payments. An invoice is emailed to you each month, and you can choose to manually pay it or have it automatically paid. We do not personally store customer credit card information.

Are there any restrictions on items that can be stored in the units?

Items that cannot be stored include explosives, highly inflammable, corrosive, hazardous, or toxic materials, or any other materials which would cause damage or contamination to the unit.

Do I need my own personal property insurance?

Yes, customers are solely responsible for securing and paying for any insurance coverage for personal property. Right Lane Storage does not carry any insurance on customers’ personal property.

What should I do if I'd like to move out of my unit?

We ask for 15 days’ written or verbal notice when you are ready to terminate your lease.
